UN reaffirms support for Pakistan’s climate agenda, Mohamed Yahya

Islamabad : Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, Meets UN Resident Coordinator Mohamed Yahya

Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, held a meeting with Mohamed Yahya, United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan.

During the meeting, Yahya highlighted that 24 UN agencies are currently operating in Pakistan, with their primary focus on supporting the country’s development and resilience, particularly in addressing the challenges of climate change.

The Minister and the UN Resident Coordinator discussed in detail the wide range of large-scale programs being implemented by the United Nations in Pakistan. The deliberations covered the scope, implementation strategies, and impact of these initiatives, as well as the future directions for enhancing cooperation in climate adaptation, mitigation, and sustainable development.

Mr. Yahya reaffirmed the United Nations’ strong commitment to continue supporting Pakistan in its climate change agenda and to work closely with the Government of Pakistan in advancing shared goals for environmental sustainability and resilience.

Dr. Musadik Malik appreciated the UN’s sustained partnership and underscored the Government’s determination to strengthen collaborative frameworks that ensure tangible outcomes for communities most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
