Haris Rauf Fined 20% by ICC After England ODI

Haris Rauf Fined 20% by ICC After England ODI

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee by the International Cricket Council (ICC) following an on-field incident during Pakistan’s One Day International (ODI) match against England in Lahore. The disciplinary action came after an exchange between Rauf and England all-rounder Will Jacks during the match on October 25, 2026.

Along with the financial penalty, Rauf received an official reprimand and one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct. The incident occurred during Pakistan’s tense run chase, which ended with a dramatic one-wicket victory for the hosts.

Why Was Haris Rauf Fined by the ICC?

The ICC found Haris Rauf guilty of a Level 1 breach of its Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The breach concerned conduct considered contrary to the spirit of the game.

The incident took place at the end of the 46th over of Pakistan’s innings. Rauf, who was at the non-striker’s end, appealed for a wide delivery before becoming involved in an argument with England’s Will Jacks.

According to the ICC, Rauf continued the exchange despite a warning from on-field umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid. He raised his bat and brushed past the umpire while moving towards Jacks. The incident led to disciplinary action against the Pakistani fast bowler.

Haris Rauf Receives One Demerit Point

In addition to the 20 per cent fine and official reprimand, Rauf received one demerit point on his disciplinary record. This was his third offence within a 24-month period, bringing his total to five demerit points.

Under ICC regulations, accumulating four or more demerit points within a 24-month period can result in suspension points. These can lead to a suspension from international cricket, depending on the number of points accumulated.

Rauf previously received a two-ODI suspension in November 2025 following disciplinary breaches during the Asia Cup. His latest penalty therefore adds to an existing disciplinary record and puts further importance on avoiding future violations.

Pakistan Beat England in a Thrilling ODI

Despite the incident, Rauf played a part in one of Pakistan’s most dramatic victories of the series. Pakistan defeated England by one wicket after a tense chase at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

England had scored 242 runs, leaving Pakistan with a challenging target. The home side struggled during the chase and fell to 154 for nine, putting the team on the brink of defeat.

All-rounder Shadab Khan then produced a remarkable performance, scoring an unbeaten 113. He shared an unbroken 89-run partnership for the final wicket with Rauf, who scored seven runs from 19 balls and hit the winning run.

The partnership secured Pakistan’s one-wicket victory and helped the team qualify for the tri-series final.

England Also Fined by the ICC

Pakistan were not the only side to face disciplinary action after the match. England were fined 15 per cent of their players’ match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate during the ODI.

The ICC found that England had bowled three overs fewer than the required rate after time allowances were taken into account. Under the relevant regulations, teams can be fined five per cent of their players’ match fees for every over they fall short of the required rate.

England captain Harry Brook accepted the proposed sanction, while Rauf also admitted his offence. Both players accepted the penalties proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe, meaning formal hearings were not required.

What Happens Next for Haris Rauf?

Rauf’s latest disciplinary penalty brings his total to five demerit points within the relevant 24-month period. Under ICC rules, four or more demerit points convert into two suspension points, which can result in a ban from one Test match, two ODIs or two T20Is.

Further breaches could lead to additional disciplinary consequences. The situation highlights the importance of maintaining professional conduct on the field, even during high-pressure international matches.

Rauf remains an important part of Pakistan’s fast-bowling options, and his performances continue to attract attention from cricket fans. His latest fine, however, places renewed focus on the disciplinary standards expected of international players.

Haris Rauf has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee and given an official reprimand after an on-field confrontation with England’s Will Jacks during the ODI in Lahore. The ICC also added one demerit point to his record, taking his total to five following his third offence within 24 months.

The incident came during a match Pakistan won by one wicket, thanks largely to Shadab Khan’s unbeaten century and a crucial final-wicket partnership with Rauf. While the victory was an important result for Pakistan, the disciplinary action serves as a reminder that players are expected to uphold the ICC’s Code of Conduct throughout international competition.
