Islamabad (GNP): Pakistan’s national football team opened their training camp for the upcoming SAFF Championship on Monday. Head coach Nolberto Solano said he hopes the side can build on the momentum from the FIFA ASEAN Cup earlier this month.
Before the first session, Solano told the players that the team had performed well at the ASEAN Cup and must now carry that form into the SAFF Championship.
He was referring to Pakistan’s campaign in Indonesia. They opened with a 4-0 loss to Thailand, then held the Philippines to a 2-2 draw and pushed Vietnam hard before going down 4-2.
Portugal’s Eduardo Seixas has joined as the team’s new strength and conditioning coach. He said he is looking forward to working with the squad and helping the players reach their goals.
Pakistan begin their SAFF Championship group campaign against India on November 5 and then play the Maldives on November 8. The top two sides in the group move on to the semi-finals.
