Selma Blair Faces Assault Charges After Flight Altercation

New York (GNP): US actress Selma Blair was arrested after an alleged altercation on a flight from Los Angeles to New York City that injured at least two cabin crew members, authorities said on Monday.

The “Legally Blonde” and “Cruel Intentions” star was detained at John F. Kennedy Airport after her Delta Air Lines flight landed late on Sunday. Crew had reported a physically abusive passenger on board.

US media reported that Blair punched one flight attendant and bit another. The 54-year-old then reportedly assaulted a police officer and a nurse while being transported to hospital.

Her representative has offered a different account of what happened. The statement says she suffered a medical emergency and received immediate medical attention on landing. She is currently in stable condition, according to the representative.

The legal process moved quickly. The FBI issued a summons accusing Blair of assaults on the plane, according to a federal judicial source. She was arraigned on Monday night on two counts of second-degree assault and released on bail. A new hearing is scheduled for January 19, 2027.

Delta said it has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behaviour and that the safety of customers and crew always comes first.

This is not the first time a flight has led to trouble for the actress. In 2016, Blair was removed from a plane on a stretcher after another outburst. She later said she had mixed alcohol with medication, which caused her to black out and say and do things she deeply regrets.

A representative for Blair said, “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct.”
