Beijing (GNP): China’s film market has kept up strong momentum during the week-long National Day holiday, which began on 1 October. Total box-office earnings for the holiday, including advance sales, have now exceeded 900 million yuan, or around US$134.2 million.
The figure follows a five-day streak in which daily revenue reached 100 million yuan. It shows how steadily audiences have turned out in cinemas across the country throughout the break.
A list of new domestic and foreign films opened nationwide for the holiday. They cover family-friendly titles, animation, crime thrillers, comedy and socially themed dramas, which gives viewers a wide range of options.
Three films currently lead the holiday chart: “Traces of Justice”, “Resident Evil” and “Mr. and Mrs. Pardon”. “Traces of Justice” is a crime thriller based on the real-life work of a forensic evidence specialist. It follows investigators as they use physical evidence to solve criminal cases.

Alongside ticket sales, film-inspired tourism continues to grow in many parts of the country. The crime film “V” remains popular, and its shooting locations in Jiangmen, Guangdong have drawn many tourists to the area’s iconic qilou buildings and ancient villages.
Cultural activities organised across the country during the holiday have added to this trend. In Qingdao, Shandong, organisers arranged film-themed trains and tour routes, seaside open-air film screenings, film carnivals and cultural fairs. These events were designed to create new consumption scenarios for tourists.
Together, the box-office figures and the tourism activity show how closely cinema and travel are now linked during the National Day holiday.
