Islamabad (GNP): The newly elected office-bearers and Executive Committee members of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) formally assumed their responsibilities after taking oath at the 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held.
Mohammad Zikria Akbar Zia took oath as President, while Mohammad Ashfaq Hussain Chatah assumed the office of Senior Vice President and Mohammad Waqas Khan as Vice President. The oath was administered by Sheikh Tariq Sadiq, Chairman ICCI Founder Group. Former ICCI President Mohammad Ejaz Abbasi served as Master of the Ceremony. The AGM was attended by a large number of ICCI members, reflecting the strong engagement of the business community with the Chamber.
Addressing the ceremony, newly elected President said that his foremost priority would be to effectively represent the business community and pursue practical advocacy for resolving issues confronting businesses. He said the Chamber would continue to engage with relevant government institutions to promote an environment conducive to investment, trade and entrepreneurship, with the broader objective of contributing to sustainable economic growth in Islamabad and the country.
Zikria Akbar Zia also expressed his gratitude to the ICCI Founder Group and the Chamber’s members for placing their confidence in him and said he would strive to live up to their expectations. He paid tribute to the outgoing leadership for its contributions and said that the new team would build on the work already undertaken, while introducing further initiatives aimed at strengthening the Chamber’s role as an effective voice of the business community.
Senior Vice President Mohammad Ashfaq Hussain Chatah and Vice President Mohammad Waqas Khan also addressed the gathering and reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively with the President and the Executive Committee for the promotion and protection of the interests of the business community.
Outgoing President Sardar Tahir Mehmood congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and expressed confidence that the new leadership would further strengthen ICCI’s role in serving the business community. He highlighted key achievements of his tenure and said he hoped the incoming leadership would carry forward the Chamber’s legacy and build on the progress achieved during the outgoing team’s tenure.
Chairman ICCI Founder Group Sheikh Tariq Sadiq expressed his optimism that the new leadership would perform effectively and continue advancing the interests of the business community. He acknowledged the achievements of the outgoing team and thanked the ICCI members for placing their confidence in the Founder Group’s candidates.
Outgoing Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub and Vice President Mohammad Irfan Chaudhry also highlighted the major initiatives and achievements undertaken during their tenure and expressed their best wishes to the newly elected leadership.
Earlier, the Secretary General Ghulam Murtaza presented the agenda before the House which was adopted by the overwhelming majority.

The 42nd AGM concluded with a renewed commitment by the new leadership to strengthen ICCI’s advocacy role, enhance engagement with stakeholders and work for creating a more business-friendly environment in the federal capital and beyond.
