BIL-Porto Initiative Opens Europe Route For Pakistan's Mining Sector

Islamabad (GNP): BIL Group and Porto Business School are advancing an initiative to connect Pakistan’s mining and minerals sector with Portuguese and European expertise, investment networks, technology providers and business institutions.

The BIL-Porto Business School Initiative for the Mining Sector is designed to bring together mine owners, mineral processors, exporters, investors, policymakers and industry leaders from Pakistan. Their counterparts will come from academic, commercial and institutional circles in Portugal and Europe.

As part of the ongoing engagement, a BIL Group delegation met H.E. Paulo Miguel Guedes Domingues, Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan. The meeting discussed the programme’s objectives, its implementation and its potential contribution to stronger Pakistan-Portugal economic cooperation.

The delegation comprised Muhammad Tauseef Zaman, CEO and Director; Ch. Javed Sabir, Director; and Hassan Ejaz.

They briefed the Ambassador on the programme’s long-term vision. It combines executive education with practical business development, international exposure, investment facilitation and structured business-to-business engagement.

The initiative focuses on mineral processing and value addition, modern mining technologies, critical minerals, and responsible and sustainable mining. It also covers international investment, joint ventures, export development and access to European markets and value chains.

A key objective is to take Pakistani mining-sector participants beyond conventional training. The programme is meant to serve as a platform for identifying commercial partnerships, technology cooperation, processing projects, investment opportunities and international market linkages.

Ambassador Domingues appreciated the initiative and expressed his support and willingness to collaborate on economic, educational and business cooperation between Pakistan and Portugal.

BIL Group is continuing to coordinate with Porto Business School, the Embassy of Portugal in Islamabad and relevant Pakistani stakeholders. Together they are developing the programme’s executive education, networking, investment and business-development components.

The wider vision is a sustainable Pakistan-Portugal mining and minerals cooperation platform. Through it, leadership development and international exposure can translate into investment, technology partnerships, value addition and long-term commercial collaboration.
