NEF, MEHD Join Hands to Strengthen Education for Children

Islamabad (GNP):  National Education Foundation (NEF) and Maan Education & Health Development (MEHD) have signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) to collaborate on improving access to quality education and strengthening learning environments for children from marginalized and vulnerable communities.

The partnership will focus on supporting community and non-formal education schools through improved infrastructure, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), child protection and school safety, community engagement, learning resources and support for vulnerable children.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Tahira S. Shaikh, Managing Director, NEF, said the collaboration would help strengthen efforts to provide children from underserved communities with safer and more supportive learning environments.

“Every child deserves an opportunity to learn, grow and realise their potential. Partnerships such as this can help address some of the practical barriers that keep vulnerable children away from quality education,” she said.

Muhammad Nisar Khan, Chairman, MEHD, said the organisation looked forward to working with NEF to support education initiatives that respond to the needs of underserved communities.

“Our collaboration with NEF reflects a shared commitment to improving access to education and creating better opportunities for children who face social and economic barriers to learning,” he said.

Under the LoU, the organisations will explore initiatives including rehabilitation and improvement of schools, provision of essential facilities, WASH interventions, child protection and disaster preparedness, community mobilisation, and educational support for orphaned and vulnerable children.

The collaboration aims to contribute to increased enrolment and retention, improved learning environments, stronger child protection mechanisms and greater community participation in education.
