Cairo (GNP): The Arab League has strongly condemned Houthi attacks targeting civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its full support for the Kingdom’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy warned that the continued escalation posed serious risks to Saudi security and to broader regional stability.
The condemnation followed attacks on civilian and economic facilities in several Saudi cities that left civilians injured, alongside continued threats to commercial vessels in the Red Sea and to international maritime navigation more broadly. Fahmy described the attacks as an unacceptable threat to the security of Saudi Arabia and to the safety of its citizens and residents, reiterating the Arab League’s full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for the measures Saudi authorities have taken to protect the population, national interests and territorial integrity.
The secretary-general stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security represents a fundamental pillar of Arab national security, underscoring the Kingdom’s central importance to regional peace and stability. He added that the security of Gulf Arab states could not be separated from the security of the wider Arab region, linking the immediate threat facing Saudi Arabia to the stability of the region as a whole.

Beyond the attacks on Saudi territory, the Arab League also expressed concern over Houthi strikes targeting commercial vessels in the Red Sea, warning that threats to freedom of international maritime navigation could carry broader regional repercussions extending well beyond the immediate area of conflict. The statement positions the safety of Red Sea shipping routes as directly connected to the wider question of Gulf and Arab regional security that Fahmy raised regarding Saudi Arabia.
Taken together, the League’s statement reinforces regional backing for Saudi Arabia as the Kingdom works to protect civilian infrastructure, economic facilities and maritime routes amid heightened tensions in the area. The Arab League’s position signals continued diplomatic support for Riyadh as it responds to the ongoing threat posed by Houthi escalation.
Fahmy said, “Saudi Arabia’s security represents a fundamental pillar of Arab national security.”
