Islamabad (GNP): Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has rejected claims made by India’s Ministry of External Affairs regarding a Hindu temple in Adda Siraj, Narowal, calling the allegations false and politically motivated.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said the temple’s structure was damaged on 21 July 2026 due to torrential rains, and not through any act of vandalism as alleged by Indian officials. He said local authorities had already surveyed the rain damage and initiated steps toward restoring the building.
The clarification follows an earlier statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, which had called for a prompt and transparent investigation into the incident and described it as an act of vandalism. That statement came after a minority rights group alleged the temple had been deliberately demolished to facilitate the expansion of an adjoining seminary.
Responding to these claims, the spokesperson said India was distorting facts and resorting to what he termed cheap gimmicks rather than acknowledging the actual cause of the damage. He said such attempts at distortion could not divert attention from India’s record concerning the treatment of minorities and attacks on their places of worship.
The spokesperson further stated that the international community remains aware of the use of Hindutva ideology against minority communities, and called for accountability from Indian leadership over the treatment of Muslim, Sikh and Christian communities in the country.

Khan said, “It is, therefore, shameful that India is distorting facts and resorting to cheap gimmicks.”
