Islamabad (GNP): The recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan has brought the three countries closer together and sent a message of unity and peace across the region, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said during a meeting with Saudi Minister for Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley at the Prime Minister’s House.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the remarks came as the two leaders discussed the broader significance of the trilateral pact alongside deepening bilateral ties between Islamabad and Riyadh.
The agreement itself was signed at a trilateral summit in Makkah on 7 August, with the three countries pledging to strengthen collective security, deepen defence cooperation and promote peace and stability in the region and beyond.
Building on that commitment, PM Shehbaz used the meeting to reaffirm what the Prime Minister’s Office described as the deep-rooted, fraternal ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, conveying his regards to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
From this foundation of strategic partnership, the conversation moved toward economic cooperation, with the premier stressing that Pakistan and the kingdom must now direct their energies toward deepening economic and agricultural ties, translating their longstanding relationship into a stronger, mutually beneficial trade and investment partnership.
He expressed satisfaction with what he called constructive engagement between the two sides, particularly regarding the export of Pakistani agricultural products to Saudi Arabia, according to the statement.
The two sides also exchanged views on enhancing agricultural productivity in Pakistan through the use of technology, research and development, and more efficient management of water resources. To carry these discussions forward, PM Shehbaz announced that a delegation of Pakistani agricultural experts would soon travel to Riyadh with the aim of realising the full potential of this partnership.

According to the military’s media wing, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, with the CDF highlighting the brotherly relations between the two countries and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding strategic partnership.
