Islamabad (GNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss recent regional developments and coordinate efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
During the call, Fidan invited Dar to attend an upcoming meeting of foreign ministers from Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, scheduled to take place in Istanbul later this month. Dar accepted the invitation and confirmed his participation.
Background: Fourth Consultative Meeting in Cairo, This engagement follows a similar gathering held in Cairo on June 21, 2026, where foreign ministers from Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye met at Egypt’s invitation. The ministers expressed appreciation for Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s guidance in shaping the group’s collective efforts toward regional stability.
That meeting provided an opportunity for extensive discussion on regional and international developments, with the four countries reaffirming their commitment to continued coordination in support of peace and stability across the Middle East and beyond.
A key point of discussion was the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed between the United States and Iran on June 18, 2026, which the ministers welcomed as a constructive step toward de-escalating tensions that had posed risks to regional security, energy markets, and global trade routes.
The ministers commended the role played by various regional and international actors in facilitating the agreement, specifically highlighting Pakistan’s significant contribution to the outcome, along with support from Qatar in helping conclude the negotiations. They also acknowledged Pakistan’s ongoing coordination with the group on this issue.
Building on this progress, the ministers emphasized the importance of swiftly advancing the next phase of negotiations toward a lasting and mutually acceptable resolution, while taking into account the security concerns of regional states, particularly Gulf Arab nations and countries in the Levant.
The ministers also reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause remains central to achieving lasting peace in the region, expressing particular concern over the humanitarian and political situation in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
