Islamabad (GNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday addressed the graduation ceremony of the 45th Specialized Diplomatic Course (SDC) at the Foreign Service Academy in Islamabad and inaugurated Phase-I of the Academy’s renovated premises.
Congratulating the graduating officers and their families, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister highlighted the Foreign Service Academy’s longstanding contribution to the preparation and professional development of Pakistan’s diplomats.
Addressing the ceremony, Senator Ishaq Dar noted that the Academy has played an important role in training generations of Pakistan’s Foreign Service officers.
Beyond Pakistan’s diplomatic service, the Academy has also contributed to international diplomatic capacity-building, having trained more than 1,600 diplomats from 122 countries.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that effective diplomacy requires more than professional knowledge.
He underscored the importance of knowledge, sound judgment and strong character in enabling diplomats to effectively advance Pakistan’s national interests.
He highlighted the increasingly broad nature of modern diplomacy, noting that Pakistan’s interests must be advanced across a range of areas, including political and economic relations as well as technological, educational and people-to-people cooperation.
Senator Ishaq Dar also expressed appreciation to the Government of the People’s Republic of China for its generous support and funding for the renovation initiative at the Foreign Service Academy.
He described the Chinese contribution as another reflection of the close and enduring Pakistan-China friendship, which continues to encompass cooperation across multiple sectors.

Addressing the graduating officers, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister called upon them to serve Pakistan with professionalism, integrity and compassion.
He emphasized that Pakistan’s national interests should remain at the heart of their diplomatic responsibilities.
The ceremony marked an important milestone for the graduating diplomats as they prepare to undertake assignments representing Pakistan abroad.
The inauguration of the renovated premises also reflected continued efforts to strengthen the institutional capacity of Pakistan’s diplomatic training infrastructure.
Senator Ishaq Dar concluded by wishing the graduating officers success in their future diplomatic careers and expressing confidence that they would contribute positively to Pakistan’s foreign policy objectives and international engagement.
