Manila Hosts 10th ASEAN Media Forum of 2026

Manila Hosts 10th ASEAN Media Forum of 2026

Manila (GNP): The 10th ASEAN Media Forum will be held in Manila, Philippines, on July 29 to 30, 2026, bringing together media professionals, communication experts, policymakers, and regional stakeholders to strengthen cooperation between ASEAN and the media community.

This year’s event marks an important achievement as the forum celebrates a decade of dialogue, collaboration, and partnership.

It also carries special significance because Manila hosted the first ASEAN Media Forum in 2017, making the 2026 gathering a symbolic return to where the initiative began.

The forum aims to provide a platform for meaningful discussions on the evolving role of media in promoting regional understanding, accurate reporting, and stronger public engagement.

As Southeast Asia continues to face political, economic, technological, and environmental challenges, the media plays an important role in delivering reliable information and encouraging informed public discourse.

The event will also focus on strengthening partnerships between governments, media organizations, and civil society to support a more informed and connected region.

Over the past ten years, the ASEAN Media Forum has developed into an important platform for encouraging dialogue between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and media representatives.

The annual gathering has helped improve communication, promote mutual understanding, and support responsible journalism across Southeast Asia.Hosting the forum once again reflects the Philippines’ continued commitment to regional cooperation and its support for initiatives that strengthen ASEAN’s people centered vision.

Organizers hope the event will encourage greater collaboration among journalists and media organizations and also highlighting the importance of accurate, balanced, and constructive reporting.

The 2026 forum is also expected to address how media can contribute to regional resilience by promoting fact based journalism, combating misinformation, and supporting public awareness during crises.

These discussions are especially relevant as digital platforms continue to transform the way information is produced, shared, and consumed.

ASEAN officials believe that stronger engagement with the media will help build greater trust between institutions and the public while encouraging cooperation on issues that affect the region, including sustainable development, economic integration, public health, and regional security.

As delegates gather in Manila, the 10th ASEAN Media Forum will not only celebrate ten years of progress but also set the direction for future cooperation between ASEAN and the media.

By encouraging open dialogue, knowledge sharing, and professional collaboration, the forum aims to strengthen regional unity and ensure that the media continues to play a positive role in shaping Southeast Asia’s future.
