SIALKOT (GNP): Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Commissioner Muzzafar Ahmed Mirza called on the business and industrial community to formalize their operations through corporatization, saying the move would strengthen governance, boost transparency, and open doors to new sources of financing and growth.
Speaking to the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mirza said SECP is working to streamline regulations, cut down on compliance burdens, and expand its digital service offerings to make it easier for businesses to incorporate and stay compliant. He noted that corporatization gives enterprises — including family-run businesses — greater credibility, stronger governance structures, and improved access to investment and formal lending channels.
SECP Commissioner Muhammad Ali Farid Khwaja also spoke at the event, stressing the importance of building a stronger investment culture in Pakistan. He encouraged both business owners and young people to engage with the capital market through well-informed investment choices, arguing that greater participation from local investors would help strengthen financial markets, support wealth generation, and contribute to broader economic growth.
Both commissioners reaffirmed SECP’s commitment to fostering a transparent, digitally driven corporate sector and to encouraging wider involvement from businesses and investors in Pakistan’s economic development.
The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated that it remains focused on meeting the needs of its members and reinforcing its reputation as a quality-driven organization. The Chamber said it aims to deliver strong service through a management team that is responsive, member-focused, and forward-looking, and that it will continue investing in staff training, adopting new technology, and regularly reviewing its services to meet that goal. It added that it will continue acting as an advocacy body for its members, working to resolve trade and industry-related issues on their behalf.
The Chamber currently counts more than 16,000 active members, including sole proprietorships, associations of persons, partnerships, and corporations, many of which export high-quality goods to over 100 international brands worldwide.
As the leading trade organization in Sialkot, the Chamber’s work spans a wide range of activities — from protecting the interests of the local business community to supporting government efforts in shaping trade policy through practical proposals and recommendations.
The Chamber’s international outreach has helped forge business connections between local companies and partners around the world. It closely tracks global business trends and shares relevant insights with its members, and through this proactive approach has played a significant role in driving industrial growth, boosting exports, and generating economic activity.
