Zardari Congratulates US President on 250th Independence Anniversary

Islamabad (GNP):  President Asif Ali Zardari sent congratulations to US President Donald Trump and the American people to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

In a letter to the American leader, Zardari noted that the United States has continued building on a long tradition of strength, innovation, and dedication to values like freedom, democracy, and opportunity. He remarked that the accomplishments Americans have achieved over two and a half centuries have played a significant part in advancing global prosperity and progress.

Zardari described the Pakistan-US relationship as one grounded in mutual respect, aligned interests, and a joint commitment to promoting peace, security, and prosperity. He pointed out that these ties have been reinforced by the contributions of the Pakistani-American community, whose achievements benefit both societies and serve as a lasting connection between the two nations. Calling the bilateral relationship one that is currently gaining momentum through renewed engagement and a mutual drive to build a stronger partnership going forward, he stressed the need to maintain this progress through coordinated cooperation in areas such as energy security, trade and investment, defense, and counter-terrorism.

Zardari also noted that a robust Pakistan-US relationship serves the broader cause of regional peace and stability, pointing to last May’s US-brokered ceasefire between Pakistan and India — both nuclear-armed states — as clear proof of the partnership’s value. He added that as global dynamics continue to shift, this relationship only grows more important, expressing gratitude for the confidence the US has placed in Pakistan’s role as a mediator in talks involving Iran. He reiterated his belief that a lasting resolution can only come through dialogue, diplomatic engagement, and efforts to reduce tensions.

Zardari concluded by saying that Pakistan would welcome the opportunity to host President Trump in Islamabad whenever it suits his schedule.
