Multan (GNP): Multan Lodhran Road dualization project has been officially approved through the efforts of Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, marking a major development for the people of South Punjab. Funds for the project have already been released, paving the way for construction work to begin within the next month. The approval was granted by Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan at the request of Chairman Senate Gilani, and the project will be financed through the Road Maintenance Account Fund.
The 62 kilometre long Multan Lodhran Road project is estimated to cost Rs. 4.6 billion and is expected to be completed within one year of construction starting. Under the project, 44.8 kilometres of the existing road will also be elevated to ensure uniformity between both carriageways, significantly improving road safety and travel efficiency for the thousands of commuters, transporters, and residents who use this route every day.
The road has remained in a severely dilapidated condition for many years, causing significant inconvenience and hardship to those who depend on it for daily travel and for the movement of goods across the region. The completion of this project is expected to deliver smoother traffic flow, reduced travel time, enhanced road safety, and modern transportation facilities to communities in Multan, Lodhran, and the surrounding areas of South Punjab.
Multan Lodhran Road Project Fulfils Long Standing Promise
Expressing his satisfaction over the approval of the Multan Lodhran Road project, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that another important commitment made to the people of Multan and Lodhran is now becoming a reality. He expressed full confidence that this project will be completed within the stipulated timeframe, and he reiterated his personal commitment to ensuring that the people of the region see the results of this investment in their daily lives.
The Multan Lodhran Road project represents one of the most significant infrastructure investments in South Punjab in recent years, and its completion will have a direct and meaningful impact on the quality of life of people living in one of Pakistan’s most important agricultural and commercial regions. The dualization of the road will not only improve safety and travel time but will also support economic activity by making the movement of agricultural produce, industrial goods, and commercial traffic faster, more reliable, and more cost effective.
