Kunming, GNP: Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening economic diplomacy and expanding regional cooperation as Ambassador of Pakistan to China, H.E. Khalil Hashmi, participated in the 10th China–South Asia Exposition (CSA Expo) and the 30th China Kunming Import & Export Fair held in Kunming, Yunnan Province.
During the event, Ambassador Hashmi, accompanied by Yunnan Province Vice Governor Ms. Yang Yang, inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion. The inauguration formed part of activities marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Addressing participants, Ambassador Hashmi emphasized the historic significance of Pakistan–China ties and highlighted the enduring strength of the Pakistan–China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. He noted that platforms such as the China–South Asia Expo create valuable opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, industrial development, and people-to-people exchanges.
Pakistan’s participation at this year’s exposition was notable, with 130 companies and 327 exhibitors representing diverse sectors. The strong presence reflected growing economic engagement between Pakistan and China and demonstrated increasing interest among Pakistani businesses in accessing Chinese markets and exploring investment opportunities.
The Ambassador and Vice Governor toured various Pakistani exhibition booths, interacted with business representatives, reviewed export-oriented products, and encouraged exhibitors to utilize the expo to establish stronger commercial partnerships and broaden market access.
Ambassador Hashmi also delivered remarks at the 7th China–South Asia Cooperation Forum held under the theme “Strengthening Partnership for a Community with a Shared Future for Neighboring Countries.” The forum brought together senior officials from China and South Asian countries, including ministers, provincial leaders, diplomats, and regional stakeholders.
In his address, Ambassador Hashmi described Pakistan–China relations as a model of mutual trust, support, and respect for the region. Highlighting South Asia’s economic and demographic potential, he called for deeper regional cooperation based on peaceful coexistence, improved connectivity, sustainable development, and shared prosperity.

He also underlined the transformative role of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in promoting infrastructure development, economic growth, and regional integration, while reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening trade and economic cooperation with China and neighboring countries.
On the sidelines of the expo, Ambassador Hashmi engaged with leading Chinese media organizations and shared Pakistan’s perspectives on bilateral relations, regional connectivity, globalization, fair trade, and sustainable development.
The Ambassador’s engagements in Kunming showcased Pakistan’s economic potential and opened new avenues for practical cooperation, reinforcing Pakistan–China economic collaboration and contributing to greater regional connectivity and shared prosperity.
