Washington (GNP): FBI Director Kash Patel has announced extensive federal security preparations for the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States. Patel emphasized that the FBI has been working behind the scenes alongside key federal and local partners, including the Department of Homeland Security and the White House FIFA Task Force, to ensure the safety and security of players, officials, and millions of visitors throughout the tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to feature 48 national teams, 78 matches, and 11 host cities across the United States, drawing millions of fans from around the world.
He added ,United States authorities are preparing for all the unprecedented and security challenges that associated with hosting an event. According to FBI, security planning for the world cup is based upon experience gained from the previous events, like the FIFA Club World Cup, the Winter Olympics Formula, One Grand Prix raced and the Super Bowl. Federal agencies are now expanding their combined efforts and make the stronger for counterterrorism, cyber security, and public safety operations .
Director Patel highlighted the work of the National Counter-Unmanned Training Center (NCUTC), which is located at Redstone Arsenal. This is described as the first program dedicated to training law enforcement agencies to respond to growing threats.
Federal officials warned that unmanned aircraft systems are increasingly being exploited by criminals, terrorists, and hostile foreign actors, especially during large public events. The NCUTC was established to help law enforcement agencies safely detect, identify, track, and, when legally authorized, reduce dangerous drone operations.
He added, the training center provides specialized instruction to state, local, tribal, territorial, and correctional law enforcement personnel. Officials believe that program will play important role in strengthening national event security and improving preparedness for high volume gathering like as the World Cup.
This initiative was launched as an executive order signed by President Donald Trump in June 2025 that give the recommendations for the creation of National Counter UAS training Center. FBI quickly established the program and conducted its first training class.

Director Patel noted that the graduating class recently completed training successfully, calling that it is an important step in preparing agencies for future threats and emergency situations during an events.
The FBI also announced the plans to release another public updates in the coming weeks to provide information into the agency’s behind the scenes security operations and preparations for the World Cup.
Officials stated that these efforts show the FBI’s broader commitment to protecting the American people and maintaining their safety during the international level events.
As preparations continue, and federal agencies remain focused on abolishing security systems, enhancing it’s intelligence sharing partnerships, and adapting to evolving technological threats in order to ensure a safe and successful 2026 FIFA World Cup.
