Islamabad (GNP) : 14th UAE Ambassador’s Cup Ramadan Football Tournament officially kicked off on diplomatic enclave in the federal capital, drawing a vibrant mix of diplomats, government officials, sports enthusiasts, and community members to celebrate the holy month through sport and friendship.
Hosted annually by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, the tournament was inaugurated with an opening ceremony held at the Embassy’s football ground.

The event was graced by the presence of several foreign envoys, including the ambassadors of Kuwait, Lebanon, and Zimbabwe, alongside the caharge d’affaires of the United States.
Senior officials from the Government of Pakistan, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and members of the media also attended, underlining the event’s role as a bridge between nations and cultures.
In his remarks, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, Salem Mohammed Al Zaabi, highlighted the significance of fostering physical well-being alongside spiritual reflection during the sacred month of Ramadan.
He noted that the tournament has become a cherished fixture in Islamabad’s sporting calendar and reflects the UAE’s long-standing commitment to promoting goodwill, mutual respect, and cultural exchange through the universal language of football.
This year’s edition brings together 10 teams that will compete across 22 matches, offering plenty of exciting action on the pitch.

Organizers say the tournament not only encourages healthy competition but also provides a platform for strengthening people-to-people ties across diverse communities, including members of different embassies and local teams.
Football fans and spectators can look forward to high-spirited matches in the coming weeks, as teams vie for win in this friendly yet competitive tournament.
