Islamabad : President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), while talking to a group of fresh graduates who visited the Chamber to interact with its leadership, emphasized that acquiring modern, market-relevant skills is essential for professional success in today’s highly competitive environment.
He said that traditional qualifications alone are no longer sufficient, and graduates must equip themselves with digital, technical, entrepreneurial and soft skills that are in demand both locally and globally. He stressed that Pakistan’s youth is a great asset and, if properly skilled, can play a decisive role in strengthening the national economy.
The ICCI President highlighted that the Chamber is fully committed to facilitating youth development and is actively fostering linkages with universities and the National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) to bridge the gap between academia and industry. He underlined the urgent need to transform academic syllabi in line with industry requirements, so that graduates are job-ready and capable of contributing effectively from day one.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior Vice President (SVP) shared his vision for creating stronger academia-industry collaboration, stating that continuous engagement between educational institutions and the private sector is vital for aligning skills with real-world business needs. He encouraged graduates to focus on innovation, adaptability and lifelong learning.
Vice President (VP) also addressed the graduates and emphasized the importance of practical exposure, internships and entrepreneurship. He said that ICCI will continue to provide platforms for youth to connect with industry leaders, gain mentorship and explore emerging career opportunities.
The visiting graduates appreciated ICCI’s proactive role and expressed keen interest in future collaboration initiatives. The session concluded with a resolve to strengthen cooperation among industry, academia and skill-development institutions for sustainable economic growth and youth empowerment.
