Dar urges world to press India to immediately restore IWT

Islamabad : Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held an urgent briefing for the Diplomatic Corps on India’s persistent material breaches of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).

India’s repeated manipulation of water flows, construction of illegal hydropower projects on the Western Rivers, and refusal to engage the IWT’s dispute-resolution mechanisms threaten the international legal order and regional peace and stability.

The DPM/FM called on India to return to full treaty compliance, end the weaponization of water against Pakistan, uphold international law and treaty obligations, and refrain from actions that undermine peace and stability in South Asia.
