BISP to Begin Disbursing Funds Through Digital Wallets Soon, Imran Shah

Karachi: Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Syed Imran Ahmed Shah has said the government is introducing a digital wallet system under the prime minister’s vision to ensure more transparent delivery of cash assistance to beneficiaries.

During a visit to the BISP Sindh Directorate, Shah urged recipients to obtain their SIMs only from designated BISP centers, noting that the SIMs are issued free of cost and that installments will begin transferring to them from March 2026. He expressed satisfaction with the Sindh region’s performance, adding that the prime minister has emphasized dignified and streamlined disbursement of Kafalat stipends to women.

He said nearly 10 million beneficiary accounts have been created for the digital wallet, while 25% of SIMs have already been distributed. He noted that the government has also finalised the Benazir Skills Programme aimed at equipping youth with employable skills and connecting them with overseas opportunities through MoUs with partner countries.

“The day is not far when young men and women trained under this programme will work abroad and make Pakistan proud,” he said, adding that the government hopes to see Pakistan emerge as a prosperous, developed nation.

Earlier, BISP Sindh DG Adnan-ul-Hasan briefed the minister that 2.548 million beneficiaries in the province receive assistance. He said SIM distribution for the digital wallet is underway at 138 locations, where screening, insurance and activation are done before issuance. So far, 593,958 SIMs have been handed out. He added that 4.315 million children are receiving education stipends, while 1.416 million women and children are benefiting from the Benazir Nashonuma Programme.
