Britney Spears father files request to shut down conservatorship on his daughter
Britney Spears father has filed an unexpected request to terminate the controversial conservatorship that has controlled his daughter’s life for 13 years.
His father has said that, whether his daughter would still a need to oversee her personal affairs and finances.
MS Spears has told the court, that she wants control of her life back without the safety of rails of conservatorship.
I have to decide that whether she can get about her own medical care, decided, when, where and how to get therapy.
This own decision to get married or to adopt a baby, I am independent and no can stop me from doing that, Britney Spears added.
The 39 years old, Spears has twice told the court in recent time, described the conservatorship as’ abusive and strongly called for her father to be removed from his role.
Spears was placed under the conservatorship, a complex legal arrangement usually reserved for very old or infirm, in 2008 after series of mental breakdowns.
She has not performed since 2018 and has told the court that she would not return to the stage while her father was conservator.
She presumably has capacity and capacity to handle other contractual and business matters. The next hearing would be on 29 September.
