Russia Dismisses US claims against Iran’s Space program
Iran 5th June 2020 (GNP): Iran launched its First military satellite, NOOR-1, with onboard the Qaseed (Messenger) satellite carrier on April 22 from the location in Dasht-e-Khavir, the central desert of Iran. Consequently, Iran’s archrival begins opposing its acquisition of space technology, thus the US ambassador Kelly Craft stated that this technique is identical to and interchangeable with those used in ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, which according to the US violates the Resolution of 2231, and thus urged the UN to take action against Iran. Resolution 2231 was endorsed a 2015 multilateral nuclear deal between Iran and six other countries-from which the US later withdrew- that prohibited Iran to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, but did not prohibit Iran from launching satellites. Russia in response to the US denied Iran’s violation of Resolution 2231 said that no resolution prohibits any country from launching peaceful space technology to make scientific and technological advances, especially in the field of aerospace. The Russain diplomat Nebenzia further illustrated that Iran has been under the strict watch of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), ever since the adoption of the JCPOA, and IAEA, itself endorses Iran’s compliance to JCPOA.
