NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq meets his Turkish counterpart on the Sidelines of the 152nd IPU General Assembly
Istanbul (GNP) :- Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, on the sidelines of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held meeting with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq extended warm congratulations to the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, as well as to the Government and people of Türkiye, on the successful hosting of the 152nd IPU General Assembly in Istanbul.
He appreciated Türkiye’s hospitality and commended the active participation of parliamentarians from across the world, reflecting the spirit of parliamentary diplomacy and international cooperation. He noted that such global parliamentary forums provide an important platform for elected representatives to exchange views, share experiences, and deliberate on common challenges, while strengthening mutual understanding, democratic values, and dialogue for global peace and development.
During the meeting, both leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional developments, and issues of mutual interest, and reaffirmed the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that war and conflict cannot resolve disputes and stressed the importance of peaceful resolution through sustained dialogue. He highlighted that Pakistan has consistently played a constructive role in facilitating dialogue and bringing parties closer to the negotiating table, reaffirming that diplomacy and engagement remain essential for sustainable peace. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace, stability, and mutual respect, and its continued advocacy of dialogue, tolerance, and constructive engagement at the global level, while also reaffirming strong relations with brotherly Islamic countries.
On the occasion, the Turkish Speaker appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and acknowledged its timely contribution in de-escalating tensions and preventing broader crises. He specifically commended the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Both Speakers agreed to further strengthen parliamentary diplomacy through enhanced institutional cooperation, exchange of delegations, and closer parliamentary engagement, reaffirming their shared commitment to regional peace and stability.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed gratitude for the Turkish leadership’s appreciation and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue contributing positively towards peace and stability at regional and global levels.
