Doha (GNP): Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, met with visiting Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Doha as part of a series of engagements with Qatari officials during his trip. According to Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry, the meeting was confirmed via a post on the Turkish platform NSosyal.
The discussion covered ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, along with recent regional developments — particularly ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting security and stability across the region.
Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of all parties remaining committed to dialogue and diplomacy, particularly regarding implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, which includes provisions to ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz as a means of protecting regional security and preserving diplomatic progress made so far. He reaffirmed Qatar’s full support for efforts to ease tensions and reach a lasting, comprehensive peace agreement in the region.
This engagement follows an earlier meeting between the two officials in May 2026, during which they similarly discussed bilateral cooperation and regional developments, including the ceasefire between the US and Iran and ongoing efforts to reduce tensions and strengthen regional stability. Both sides had emphasized the importance of protecting freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
That meeting also touched on developments in Gaza, the wider Palestinian territories, and Lebanon, with both Qatar and Türkiye voicing support for Pakistan’s mediation efforts and expressing hope they would help resolve the ongoing crisis. Both nations reiterated their opposition to any unilateral actions that could threaten security in the Strait of Hormuz or disrupt international shipping, condemning any attacks on commercial vessels or threats to maritime security as violations of international law that endanger global trade and supply chains.

The two sides agreed that moving forward would require closer coordination and consultation, building on their broader strategic partnership in support of regional security and stability.
