Thai Embassy, Maroof Hospital Hold Free Medical Camp for Children

Pakistan Sweet Home is a non-profit organization, founded in 2009 to help children affected by conflict in the Swat region. It operates several residential centers across Pakistan and provides accommodation, education, healthcare, food, counseling, and vocational training to more than 10,000 children.

The camp was organized as part of activities marking the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana of Thailand, with both the Embassy and MIH using the occasion to demonstrate their shared dedication to community welfare and healthcare access.

Children and staff at Pakistan Sweet Home received free consultations across six disciplines: Pediatrics, General Medicine, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Psychology. Health screenings revealed a high prevalence of dental and vision problems among the children, with roughly 60 percent found to have concerns in these areas. Around 40 percent needed general medical or mental health support. MIH’s pharmacy dispensed free medicines to all children and staff to assist with their care and recovery.

Thailand’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Rongvudhi Virabutr, attended as chief guest. He praised the initiative for reaching underprivileged children and expressed genuine satisfaction at the healthcare support being extended to them. He also noted that tying the camp to Her Majesty Queen Suthida’s birthday celebrations was a meaningful way to reflect Thailand’s commitment to humanitarian and community welfare work.

MIH Chairman Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed said the hospital intends to maintain its healthcare outreach to orphaned and vulnerable children through the Maroof Community Program. MIH CEO Haroon Naseer thanked Zamurrad Khan for the nurturing environment he has built at Pakistan Sweet Home and acknowledged the Royal Thai Embassy for its partnership in making the camp possible.

The event wrapped up with an Appreciation Shields Ceremony honoring the Royal Thai Embassy, Pakistan Sweet Home, and the MIH teams for their collective contribution to community healthcare and social well-being.
