Special Committee discussed Balochistan’s gas and energy issues

Khawaja Muhammad Asif, the Minister of Defense, presided over the meeting. The committee was informed of the issues facing Balochistan's gas and energy industries.

Quetta, 23 Feburary 2023 (GNP): Ministry of Electricity Division hosted a meeting of the Special Committee, which is chaired by the Speaker of the Balochistan Legislature on Thursday.

According to a statement released here, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, the Minister of Defense, presided over the meeting. The committee was informed of the issues facing Balochistan’s gas and energy industries.

The Balochistan Assembly members requested a suspension of electricity payments till December 2022 in light of the severe floods that wreaked havoc in the region.

Although Minister for Electricity Division Khurram Dastgir indicated that the proposals of the delegates of Balochistan will be brought before the Prime Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated that they would solve all of these concerns collectively.

Also, it was determined that the Minister for the Electricity Division will travel to Quetta to review all the problems involving electricity.

Dr. Musadik Malik, the minister of state for petroleum, Hashim Notizai, the minister of state for power, the chairman of NEPRA, members of the Balochistan Assembly and provincial ministers, the leader of the opposition in the Balochistan Assembly, the secretary of the Balochistan Energy Department, and other relevant officials also attended the meeting.
