Rawalpindi (GNP): Security forces killed six militants in an intelligence-based operation in the Zarkani area of Dera Ismail Khan District, according to an official statement.
The statement said the operation was launched after reports of the presence of “Khwarij” belonging to “Fitna al Khwarij,” which it described as an Indian proxy.
Two soldiers were martyred in the intense exchange of fire: Naik Ghulam Murtaza (36, from District Gujrat) and Sepoy Taseer Ahmed (30, from District Talagang). The statement said both fought gallantly.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants. The statement said they had been actively involved in numerous attacks on security forces and law enforcement agencies and in the killing of innocent civilians.

A clearance operation is under way to find and eliminate any other militants in the area. The statement added that the counter-terrorism campaign under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism, and that the soldiers’ sacrifices reinforce the forces’ commitment to defending the nation.
