Islamabad (GNP): President Asif Ali Zardari called for deeper cooperation between Pakistan and Lebanon, particularly in internal security, law enforcement, and counter-narcotics efforts, during a meeting with Lebanon’s Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad Al Hajjar, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The President voiced concern over the ongoing instability and conflict in Lebanon and the broader Middle East, noting the humanitarian and security toll it continues to take. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity, and expressed backing for diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and lasting peace, stressing that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and in accordance with international law.
Zardari highlighted the need to explore expanded cooperation in areas such as extradition and mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, along with sharing expertise in disaster preparedness, emergency response, urban search and rescue, emergency communications, and humanitarian logistics.
He expressed hope that the meeting would give fresh momentum to bilateral ties and lay stronger groundwork for continued collaboration between the two countries.
In response, Minister Al Hajjar thanked Pakistan for its support of Lebanon and acknowledged the constructive role Pakistan has played in the region, underscoring the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in security and law enforcement.
The Lebanese delegation included Ambassador of Lebanon to Pakistan Abdulaziz Issa, Major General Raed Abdallah, Director General of Internal Security Forces, and Brigadier Generals Sami Nassif and Mahmoud Kobrosly.

Also present at the meeting were Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Minister of State for Interior and Narcotics Control Senator Talal Chaudhry, and Senator Saleem Mandviwalla.
