Islamabad (GNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s intent to deepen bilateral cooperation with Kuwait across multiple sectors.
Kuwait’s Foreign Minister, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, met with the Prime Minister in Islamabad. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with federal ministers overseeing Defence, Commerce, National Food Security & Research, Communications, Maritime Affairs, and Petroleum, plus an adviser to the Prime Minister and other senior officials.
During what was described as a warm meeting, the Prime Minister greeted the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister and passed along his good wishes to Kuwait’s Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. He reflected on the deep-rooted ties between the two countries, built on shared values and trust, noting that Pakistan and Kuwait have consistently supported one another through difficult periods.
Turning to regional developments, the Prime Minister voiced Pakistan’s full support for Kuwait’s leadership and people, condemning the attacks that have targeted Kuwait and other Gulf nations amid the ongoing regional conflict. He said Pakistan continues to act as a sincere and impartial mediator in efforts to restore regional peace, and thanked Kuwait’s leadership for backing those efforts.
On the bilateral front, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the positive direction of relations and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to expand cooperation with Kuwait in areas such as trade, investment, energy, agriculture, information technology, maritime affairs, and workforce development. He also thanked the Kuwaiti government for hosting the Pakistani expatriate community and recognized their contribution to Kuwait’s economic and social progress.
Foreign Minister Al-Sabah relayed greetings from Kuwait’s leadership and affirmed Kuwait’s own commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan in areas of shared benefit. He praised the role played by Pakistan — particularly the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir — in supporting dialogue and diplomatic efforts to ease the current crisis and restore regional stability. He also thanked Pakistan’s leadership and citizens for standing by Kuwait during this challenging period.
Both sides agreed on the value of continued consultation and coordination on shared priorities, particularly bilateral matters, and agreed to exchange delegations soon to continue these discussions. The Prime Minister renewed his invitation for Kuwait’s Crown Prince to visit Pakistan at a time convenient for both sides.
Foreign Minister Al-Sabah’s visit to Islamabad came at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. During the trip, the two sides discussed the full range of bilateral ties along with regional and international matters of shared interest. The visit underscored the long-standing, brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait, built on shared history, trust, and close cooperation.
