Pakistan and KSA Explore Energy Security and Refinery Upgrades

Islamabad (GNP): Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik held a meeting with Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan. They discussed matters of mutual interest and agreed on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

Minister expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continued support in meeting Pakistan’s energy requirements. He particularly acknowledged special treatment accorded to Pakistan in petroleum supplies, which has significantly contributed to addressing Pakistan’s energy needs during the present challenging times.

The Saudi Ambassador reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Pakistan in addressing its energy security challenges and assured continued cooperation in this regard.

It was also noted that during recent engagements between both the countries at technical level, the consultations are making positive headway for long term cooperation. Both sides are also working closely to explore various refinery upgradation / investment projects.

Saudi Ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and regional stability, and acknowledged Pakistan’s continued efforts towards fostering stability in the region.

The Minister reiterated Pakistan’s desire to further deepen its strategic energy partnership with Saudi Arabia especially Aramco and appreciated the Kingdom’s longstanding support and cooperation.

He said that Government of Pakistan is working to fulfill energy needs of people of Pakistan and Saudi support in this regard is highly regarded.
