Islamabad (GNP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan is keen to deepen its cooperation with the United States across trade, investment, agriculture, IT, mining, and energy, during a meeting with a US congressional delegation comprising Representatives Ryan Zinke and Michael Baumgartner at the Prime Minister House.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, and US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker.
Sharif welcomed the visiting congressmen, describing their trip as a positive step toward strengthening Pakistan-US relations.
He extended congratulations to the American people on the 250th anniversary of US independence and conveyed his regards to President Donald Trump, recalling Trump’s role in helping bring about the ceasefire between Pakistan and India in May 2025, which he credited with preventing further loss of life.
On bilateral relations, Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s interest in expanding cooperation with the US across several key economic sectors.
In response, the visiting congressmen thanked the prime minister for his hospitality, noting the strong relationship between President Trump and Pakistani leadership and its positive influence on bilateral ties. They also commended Pakistan’s role in regional peace efforts.
Both sides agreed to increase the frequency of congressional and parliamentary delegation visits between the two countries going forward.
