Islamabad, 5 June, 2023 (GNP): Pakistan and Turkey are potentially seeking an intriguing $5 billion trade breakthrough annually in the next three years. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his optimistic sentiments as he returned from a two-day Ankara tour on Sunday.
Following his visit to Turkey for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s oath-taking ceremony after his re-election, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif remains expectant to reach $5 billion in bilateral trade over the next three years.
During his latest visit, PM Shahbaz Sharif met with the leading Turkish business group heads. The discussion emphasized the importance of investment and trade in key sectors, agriculture, energy, construction, and information technology (IT).

He also expressed enthusiasm about emerging opportunities for greater cooperation between the two nations. Particularly, optimism emerged following the operationalization of the historic Trade-in-goods agreement between Pakistan and Turkey signed on 31 May this year.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was glad to find a discernible interest in the business community in building existing partnerships and establishing new ventures.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also expressed his buoyancy and paid felicitations on the appointment of Hakan Fidan as Turkey’s latest foreign Minister. He elaborated on his desire to closely join hands with his Turkish counterpart in elevating Pak-Turkey Strategic Partnerships.

Fidan’s extensive experience as the Director of Turkiye’s National Intelligence Organisation (NIA) for over eight years adds significant value to his new role as Foreign Minister.
Furthermore, both nations share a mutual vision of fostering long-lasting friendship as witnessed by the Foreign Minister’s statement “Yasasin Pakistan – Turkiye Dostlugu! (Long live friendship between Pakistan and Turkiye).”
Additionally, the government of Pakistan is determined in its commitment to establish trade and investment partnerships. While Turkey demonstrates a keen interest in expanding its presence in Pakistan’s market.
