Islamabad (GNP): Dr Rajeh bin Tami Albugami, the newly appointed Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, called on National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at Parliament House in Islamabad.
Sadiq congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and hoped his term would strengthen relations and open new areas of cooperation between the two brotherly countries. He described Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as “one soul in two bodies,” with ties grounded in shared faith, brotherhood, affection, mutual trust and respect. Saudi Arabia, he said, is a trusted friend whose relationship with Pakistan goes well beyond diplomacy and reflects deep affection and reverence between their peoples.
He said Pakistan places immense importance on its historic and strategic relationship with the Kingdom, that the two countries have supported each other through difficult times, and that they will keep working together for cooperation, solidarity and shared interests.
Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm support for Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying the Kingdom’s security is inseparable from Pakistan’s own. He strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and rejected any aggression against its sovereignty. Lasting regional peace, he said, requires all countries to respect one another’s sovereignty and to put dialogue, diplomacy and cooperation first in settling disputes.
He called the Mecca Accord an important step toward peace, stability and regional harmony, saying such agreements are essential for resolving differences through dialogue and collective effort. He hoped regional countries would continue to promote mutual trust and responsible diplomacy.
The Speaker said parliamentary diplomacy can give Pakistan-Saudi relations a new dimension. Exchanges of delegations, joint meetings and institutional links, he noted, would let legislators in both countries learn from each other’s experience and explore new cooperation. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to working with Saudi Arabia for lasting peace, stability and development, and said strong ties between the two countries matter for their peoples and for regional cooperation.

He also called the Mecca Accord a significant development toward lasting peace, stressed that continued dialogue and cooperation are needed to resolve regional challenges, and appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace in the region.
