Islamabad (GNP): Speaking as special guest at a ceremony honoring the nation’s fallen heroes, noted journalist Fariha Idrees paid tribute to the martyrs, stating that they represent enduring emblems of bravery, sacrifice, and national determination. She added that their legacy serves as a constant reminder that safeguarding the homeland is a sacred responsibility that must be upheld with unwavering dedication.
The event was organized by Signature Impact (Pvt) Limited, a company focused on leadership development, marketing solutions, and educational programs, as part of its observance of Defence Day on September 6 — a day dedicated to honoring the ultimate sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs and celebrating their bravery, valor, and commitment to duty.
The ceremony opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran followed by the national anthem. Engr. Dr. Muhammad Afzal, the company’s CEO, delivered a heartfelt tribute to the martyrs, emphasizing that their sacrifices form the very bedrock upon which Pakistan stands.
He shared a personal connection to the occasion, revealing that his own father was martyred during the 1965 war. He remarked that the courageous actions of previous generations are not simply historical events, but a living inheritance that carries significant responsibility for those living today.
In his closing address, CEO Adnan Mukhtar led a Fateha in remembrance of the martyrs from the 1965 and 1971 wars as well as Marka-e-Haq, and expressed gratitude to all who attended. The event concluded with the cutting of a specially prepared cake.
