Khar Honored with 'Best Diplomat Award' by Cambodia

Cambodia (GNP): Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Senate Chairman of Pakistan and Ambassador to the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC-2), received the “Best Diplomat Award” from the Government of Cambodia in recognition of her key role in organizing and running ISC-2 in Phnom Penh.

Serving as Co-Chair of the Drafting Committee, Khar spearheaded negotiations that led to the adoption of the ISC-2 Phnom Penh Declaration, unanimously endorsed by 20 Speakers of Parliament. The declaration reaffirmed participating nations’ commitment to peace, dialogue and multilateral cooperation.

Speaking to media, Khar emphasized the ISC’s core mission as a multilateral platform grounded in resolving conflicts through dialogue, mutual understanding and parliamentary diplomacy, adding that such platforms are increasingly vital for building trust and cooperation in today’s complex global landscape.

Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani congratulated Khar on the honor, calling it a source of pride for Pakistan and praising her dedication, strategic contributions during the preparatory phase, and her strong representation of Pakistan’s vision for peace throughout the process.

The Cambodian government described Khar’s contribution as embodying the spirit of partnership and friendship that made ISC-2 a success.

Separately, Chairman Gilani led a delegation on a courtesy visit to King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia in Phnom Penh, on the sidelines of the conference, where he thanked the King for his warm hospitality and for Cambodia’s successful hosting of the event.
