Islamabad (GNP): The federal capital was illuminated in a striking show of unity on Saturday night, as flags of Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia lined Constitution Avenue alongside LED displays commemorating the recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
Major government buildings, including Parliament House, the Presidency and the Prime Minister’s House, were lit up against the night sky, while Constitution Avenue was transformed into a corridor of flags representing the three nations.
The display was shared by Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, who described it as a fitting tribute to the vision and cooperation behind the strategic partnership.
Welcome banners referencing the Makkah agreement were installed across major roads and public spaces in the capital, while LED screens at Kacheri Chowk and other prominent locations highlighted the historic ties among the three countries and their expanding defence cooperation.
The coordinated illumination effort drew considerable public attention, giving the capital a celebratory atmosphere rarely seen on this scale.
At night, Constitution Avenue presented a dramatic scene, with brightly lit government buildings, decorative lighting and digital displays combining with the flags of Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia to create a unified visual statement.

Residents gathered to view the illuminated landmarks, many describing the display as a powerful symbol of solidarity between the three nations.
The tribute follows the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement on August 7, 2026, at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah, where Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye formalised a mutual defence pact committing each state to treat an attack on one as an attack on all.
The summit, held at the invitation of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, was attended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The illumination of Islamabad’s key landmarks reflects the significance Pakistan has placed on the agreement, with officials describing the display as a visible expression of the brotherhood, mutual trust and shared strategic vision underpinning the pact.
The scene along Constitution Avenue is expected to remain a talking point in the capital in the days following the summit, as residents and visitors continue to view the illuminated corridor.
