India-Australia’s First-Ever Virtual Bilateral Summit

New Delhi 4th, June 2020 (GNP): The first India-Australia Virtual Summit has held on the 4th of June 2020 between both prime ministers of India and Australia.
During the virtual summit, both reviewed the broad framework of the India-Australia relationship, and how the growing strategic ties can bring progress across many fields such as health, economy, and defense sectors in the future. They have also shed light upon current Covid-19 and shared strategies to handle this global health challenge effectively. Since 2018, both leaders have met four times. The multifaceted partnership between both democratic states will further enhance people-to-people relations as well.
Since 2012, India-Australia ties have been on an upswing. It was a time when the Australian government decided to sell uranium to India despite India not being a signatory to the nuclear NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty). Adding to this, they have strengthened their bilateral ties on the basis of a common vision and high-level official visits with each other.
