IIT-Madras develops electric flying taxi

The startup firm from IIT-Madras claims it to be faster than a helicopter.

Delhi, 23 February 2023 (GNP): IIT-Madras (Indian University of Technology-Madras) has created an electric flying taxi that they claim would transport passengers more quickly than a helicopter. At the Bengaluru-based Aero India event, the flying taxi was on display.

According to the IIT-Madras start-up firm, the electric flying taxi was created to make urban transit easier. To make urban travel easier and faster, the ePlane firm created the electric flying taxi.

The electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVOTL) prototype has an estimated range of 200 kilometers on a single charge.

According to the firm, the electric flying taxi can go 10 times faster than a car. Additionally, it states that each passenger’s cost each trip will be roughly double what Uber typically costs for the same distance.

After watching a film on electric ground transportation, Pranjal Mehta, CEO of ePlane Company, and Professor Satya Chakravarthy, CTO of the startup, claimed they were inspired to create the electric flying taxi.
