Guangzhou (GNP): The 2026 World Life Science Conference will be held at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center in China’s Guangdong Province from November 28 to 30, organisers announced on Wednesday at a press conference.
More than 200 scientists have confirmed their attendance, including 40 academicians, and the number of academicians is expected to exceed 50. The programme includes 33 thematic sessions, giving the gathering a wide scientific scope.
Gao Fu, one of the Scientific and Program Committee Chairs and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said the event will feature 10 keynote speakers. Six are international scientists who are Nobel Prize, Lasker Award or Wolf Prize laureates, and four are scientists from China.
The conference is described as one of the most prestigious and influential international academic events in China’s life-science community. Through high-level exchange and displays of the latest scientific achievements, it aims to strengthen international collaboration and bring science and industrial innovation closer together.

That collaboration is meant to address major diseases, population ageing, environmental pollution and resource shortages.
This year’s event will expand its international reach through a partnership with the Galien Foundation. Gao Fu said the foundation will host a Galien-Nanshan forum with representatives from international pharmaceutical companies.
The conference is also expected to explore closer cooperation among industry, academia and research institutions with companies in Guangdong. The aim is to speed up the translation of scientific discoveries into real-world applications and support the growth of the life sciences and biopharmaceutical industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
