Divvy film festival to begin from March 17

The festival, according to its planners, intends to offer a venue for Pakistani creative endeavours on a national and worldwide scale.

Islamabad, 16 March 2023 (GNP): Beginning on March 17, Islamabad will host the annual Divvy Film Festival, which aims to support independent Pakistani film. The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) and the Foundation Art Divvy jointly host the festival, which has previously been held in Lahore and Karachi.

The festival, according to its planners, intends to offer a venue for Pakistani creative endeavours on a national and worldwide scale. Each evening’s screening of a specially selected programme of feature films, short films, documentaries, and animated films would be followed by a conversation with the film’s directors.

The subjects of the films chosen for the festival span a wide spectrum, from coming-of-age tales, identity exploration, and climate change to the joy of everyday and unanticipated moments, human stories of love and tragedy, and coming-of-age.

The artistic director of the festival, Zahra, thinks that the movies will showcase the hero in every one of us by drawing on the experiences and memories of the audience.

In addition to other well-known figures, the festival will feature the films of documentarian Mahera Omar, actor Usman Mukhtar, and Sarmad Khoosat.
