Islamabad (GNP): British High Commissioner Jane Marriott met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar to discuss the state of Pakistan-UK relations, along with regional developments including the recent US-Iran situation.
During the meeting, Dar highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to support dialogue, diplomacy, and de-escalation in the region, which the High Commissioner acknowledged, commending Pakistan’s contribution to regional peace and stability.
Both officials reviewed the broader relationship between the two countries and expressed satisfaction with its positive direction. They agreed on the importance of maintaining consistent high-level engagement to keep up momentum and turn shared goals into concrete outcomes. A central theme of the discussion was a mutual interest in expanding cooperation across various sectors, paired with stronger efforts toward public outreach.
While the specific sectors for expanded cooperation weren’t publicly disclosed, the focus on public engagement suggests both sides are looking to strengthen people-to-people connections and broaden bilateral ties beyond formal diplomatic channels.
The two sides also touched on wider regional and international developments, reaffirming their shared commitment to dialogue, multilateral cooperation, and constructive engagement through international institutions — a message that carries particular weight amid ongoing global tensions and geopolitical complexity. Both countries stressed the value of working together effectively through established global platforms to address international challenges.
Pakistan and the United Kingdom maintain a longstanding relationship shaped by shared history, trade ties, educational links, and a significant diaspora community. This latest engagement reflects continued efforts by both governments to strengthen diplomatic ties and explore new areas of cooperation.
