China’s Foreign Minister unveils Global Diplomatic Vision at National People’s Congress

Beijing, 8 March, 2024 (GNP): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, delivered a keynote speech on China’s Global Diplomatic Vision at the second session of the 14th National People’s Congress.

In his address, Minister Wang Yi emphasized China’s steadfast commitment to being a force for peace, stability, and progress in the world amid changing and turbulent international environments.

He highlighted China’s significant diplomatic efforts and achievements throughout 2023, showcasing the country’s role in promoting international solidarity, cooperation, and offering solutions to global challenges.

Foreign minister Wang Yi underscored the importance of China’s relationship with Russia and emphasized a new paradigm of major-country relations based on non-alliance, non-confrontation, and comprehensive strategic coordination.

Regarding China-US relations, Wang Yi stressed the necessity of peaceful coexistence and urged the United States to take an objective and rational view of China’s development.

He also called for immediate action from the international community to address the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and prioritized a ceasefire and Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.

In addition, Wang Yi addressed China-Europe cooperation, Taiwan’s reunification with the mainland, and the Ukraine crisis, expressing China’s stance on each issue.

Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s commitment to fostering positive international relations and announced China’s visa-free policy for Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg on a trial basis from March 14 onwards.

“We hope more countries will also offer Chinese citizens visa facilitation and work with us to build fast-track networks for cross-border travels and encourage speedy resumption of international passenger flights,” Wang added.
