Rawalpindi (GNP): Rawalpindi (GNP): Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani visited Eidgah Sharif in Rawalpindi, accompanied by British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Cryptocurrency, Bilal Bin Saqib. The delegation was welcomed by the shrine’s custodian, Pir Syed Muhammad Hassan Haseeb-ur-Rehman.

Historical and Spiritual Significance

During the visit, Pir Haseeb-ur-Rehman briefed the visiting dignitaries on the history of Eidgah Sharif, its spiritual legacy, and its associated Sufi traditions, noting that for over 150 years the shrine has served as a center for religious education, spiritual reflection, and community gatherings, drawing devotees from Pakistan and abroad.

Gilani’s Remarks

Gilani praised the religious and social contributions of Eidgah Sharif, conveying his best wishes to its custodian and reflecting on how Sufi tradition has long promoted values of tolerance, compassion, and service to humanity — principles he said remain relevant today.

He described Islam as a religion centered on peace, mutual respect, and social harmony, emphasizing that terrorism and extremism have no place within its teachings, which he characterized as rooted in mercy and goodwill toward all people.

Remarks on National Politics and Economy

Turning to Pakistan’s current political and economic situation, Gilani called for greater national unity, political stability, and adherence to constitutional principles, urging political leaders to prioritize national interest over partisan concerns. He reaffirmed Parliament’s role in fostering consensus and democratic dialogue.

He identified economic stability, increased investment, export growth, job creation, and public relief as key national priorities, expressing confidence that coordinated policy and national unity would help Pakistan achieve sustainable economic progress.

Gilani added that addressing challenges such as terrorism, poverty, and unemployment requires collective resolve and social cohesion, expressing confidence in Pakistan’s democratic institutions and the resilience of its people to overcome these obstacles.
