Islamabad (GNP) : Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has declared that Pakistan’s armed forces will spare no effort in eliminating terrorism originating from across its borders, countering hostile proxies, and reshaping military strategy to meet the demands of modern warfare.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI(M), HJ, visited the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad, where he delivered an address to officers graduating from the National Security and War Course, which included participants from across all service branches.
Speaking to the graduating officers, the Field Marshal drew attention to the rapidly shifting nature of contemporary warfare and stressed the indispensable role of strategic clarity and institutional professionalism in tackling complex security challenges. He commended institutions such as NDU for their vital contribution in shaping the next generation of military and civilian leaders — individuals equipped to confront hybrid, conventional, and sub-conventional threats with foresight and resolve.
He noted that the Pakistan Armed Forces are actively recalibrating both their operational and developmental frameworks to keep pace with the transformed character of modern conflict.
The Field Marshal was unequivocal on the question of external threats, stating that the armed forces are fully aware of state-sponsored efforts by hostile intelligence services to sow instability within Pakistan. He made clear that the activities of such proxies and networks — operating under foreign direction — are doomed to fail and will not be permitted to erode Pakistan’s internal security or obstruct its economic advancement.
He reaffirmed that any terrorism traceable to sanctuaries beyond Pakistan’s borders will be dismantled with the combined strength of the state. The armed forces, backed by the full support of the Pakistani nation, are committed to completely eradicating the infrastructure of these proxy networks, along with all those who aid and enable them.
The Field Marshal also offered a pointed reminder that wars are not decided by media campaigns or political theatrics, but by faith, national unity, and discipline.
Closing his address, he expressed unwavering confidence in the professionalism, fighting spirit, and operational readiness of Pakistan’s battle-tested armed forces. He called on the graduating officers to carry forward the values of integrity, selfless service, and absolute commitment to their nation throughout their careers.
Upon his arrival at NDU, the Field Marshal was received by the President of the university.
