Pakistan qualifies for semi-final ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

Adelaide, 6 November 2022 (GNP/TDI): Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by five wickets on Sunday, advancing to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 semifinal.

After South Africa lost to the Netherlands in the opening match of Sunday’s tripleheader, the two teams had been vying for a spot in the semi-finals in a virtual knockout game.

Pakistan’s batters maintained composure as openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan cautiously added 57 runs in 63 balls.

Young Mohammad Haris delivered an outstanding cameo of 18 runs in 31 balls to put Pakistan in a comfortable position.

After scoring 25 off 33 in the 11th over, captain Babar Azam was bowled by left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed. Rizwan (32 off 32) followed suit by being caught at point in the next over while attempting to slash medium pacer Ebadot Hussain.

On the other hand, Shan Masood contributed with a deft unbeaten 24 off 14 to lead the team home. Earlier, Bangladesh had given Pakistan a 128-run goal to reach the semifinals.

While Shaheen Shah Afridi, a fast bowler, claimed four wickets as Pakistan restricted Bangladesh to a modest total. Pakistan will face off against the New Zealand cricket team in the semifinal.
