Kazakh President met Ministry of Internal Affairs leadership

The President commended former Minister Marat Akhmetzhanov for the positive changes he introduced during his tenure.

Astana, 2 September, 2023(GNP): Kazakh president held a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on Saturday. Opening the meeting, the new Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov was introduced, who replaced Marat Akhmetzhanov in August 2023. As stated by the Head of State, the newly appointed department leader has 30 years of experience in internal affairs.

The President thanked the ex-Minister, Marat Akhmetzhanov, for his work and the positive changes he made in the internal affairs agencies. The changes he introduced include implementation of digital technologies, automatic traffic monitoring, and an increase in police transparency.

Addressing the meeting, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted his recent message to improve citizens’ welfare and drive socio-economic changes. The successful implementation of these plans greatly depends on maintaining law and order, with the police playing a crucial role.

The meeting also addressed issues concerning the maintenance of public order and security. Additionally, it focused on addressing crime and corruption while enhancing the legal awareness of citizens.

The President also urged the execution of his orders given at the MIA collegium’s extended meeting on June 30 of this year. He emphasized the need for innovative ideas to transform internal affairs agencies, foster strong communication with the public and civil society.

The head of state also highlighted the significance of security agencies in safeguarding citizens’ rights and interests. He said they should facilitate the preservation of their well-being and deliver prompt and accurate information to the public. The President urged the Ministry of Internal Affairs to intensify efforts against cybercrime, narcotics smuggling, criminal gangs, family violence, and other societal threats.

The President also called on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to streamline bureaucracy, automate workflow, and enhance internal processes. Additionally, he urged the elevation of professional skills and discipline among its personnel.

At the meeting’s conclusion, he hoped MIA leadership would efficiently fulfill their assigned tasks. The Kazakh president also commended law enforcement agencies for upholding stability and order.
