Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War:
- Owing to our ancestors’ unparalleled feat of heroism, the Soviet Union succeeded in defending our country’s independence, broke the back of fascism and defeated the “brown plague”, albeit at the cost of tremendous sacrifice and suffering;
- Today’s celebration of Victory Day is marred by the fact that Nazism is once again rearing its ugly head;
- Descendants of Napoleon and Hitler, together with the Anglo-Saxons, are trying to get a rematch and, for that end, they are using the blatantly Nazi regime in Ukraine, which has been nurtured for many years;
- We take up the mantle from our fathers and grandfathers in defending the interests of our country;
- Russia’s modern responsibility and mission is to consolidate the countries of the world’s majority – the Global South and the Global East, including Pakistan, – who realize that Russia is fighting for them as well;
- It is encouraging to see that despite pressure, the Pakistani people and authorities have their own independent outlook on global developments
